Members of the Centre for Global Law and Governance (CGLG) and Institute for Legal and Constitutional Research (ILCR) are deeply saddened by the recent passing of Professor Jörg Philipp Terhechte. Jörg was a Visiting Professor in the School of International Relations from 2021-2024 where he was hosted by the CGLG. During that time, he gave generously of his time in collaborating with the CGLG and ILCR on events that addressed his many areas of expertise. Jörg was an intellectual powerhouse, with diverse scholarly interests that ranged across constitutional, administrative, and European law and a truly astonishing collection of academic publications, professional appointments, and activities. But beyond his productivity, Jörg stood out for his good humour and infectious enthusiasm. He was also a consummate bridge-builder and worked tirelessly to develop personal and institutional connections between Germany and the United Kingdom (and especially here in Scotland). He shall be greatly missed. Our condolences go out to Jörg’s family, friends, and many collaborators in academia and beyond.
